Warranty Policy
Last updated: 14 April 2026
Every product sold by TopsLaptops comes with a 90-day warranty covering hardware defects and failures under normal use.
This warranty is in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory rights under the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015. If you believe a product is faulty you may also be entitled to a repair, replacement or refund under that legislation.
1. What is covered
The warranty covers hardware faults and failures arising from normal use that were not disclosed at the time of sale. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Failure of the processor, motherboard, RAM, or storage drive
- Screen failure (backlight failure, panel failure — not physical damage)
- Charging port or power system failure under normal use
- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or other integrated hardware ceasing to function
- Keyboard or trackpad failure (not due to physical damage or liquid)
- Installed RAM or storage upgrade components (when supplied and fitted by us)
Note on battery: Battery capacity degrades naturally in used devices. We disclose the battery health percentage on every listing. The warranty does not cover continued capacity degradation beyond the disclosed figure, but does cover a battery that fails to hold any charge within the warranty period.
2. What is not covered
The warranty does not cover:
- Physical damage caused after delivery (cracks, dents, broken hinges, dropped screens)
- Liquid damage of any kind
- Damage caused by inappropriate power supplies, power surges, or third-party accessories
- Software issues, viruses, OS corruption, or problems arising from user-installed software
- Cosmetic wear (minor scratches, paint wear) disclosed at the time of sale
- Damage resulting from unauthorised repair or modification by a third party
- Loss or theft
3. Warranty period
The warranty runs for 90 days from the date of delivery (or collection, where applicable). The warranty period is noted on your order confirmation email.
Products sold as For Parts / Faulty carry no warranty and are sold as described only. All other condition grades (Used, Open Box, Refurbished, New) are covered by the 90-day warranty.
4. How to make a claim
To make a warranty claim, please:
- Contact us within the 90-day period, describing the fault in as much detail as possible. Include your order number and, where helpful, a short video or photo of the issue.
- We will assess whether the fault falls within the warranty terms, usually within 2 working days.
- If covered, we will arrange a free return of the item to us (we provide a prepaid label).
- On receipt we will carry out a repair or replacement as appropriate. Where neither is possible, a full refund will be issued.
- Repaired or replacement items will be dispatched within 5 working days of receipt, where possible.
5. Your statutory rights
This warranty does not limit or replace your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Under that legislation:
- Within 30 days of delivery: If a product is faulty you are entitled to a full refund.
- Within 6 months of delivery: If a fault appears, it is presumed to have existed at the time of sale. We must offer a repair, replacement, or (if those are not possible) a refund.
- After 6 months: You may still have rights, but must demonstrate the fault was present at the time of purchase.
For more information visit Citizens Advice or gov.uk.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, TopsLaptops's liability under this warranty is limited to the repair, replacement, or refund of the defective product. We are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss (such as loss of data, loss of use, or loss of income) arising from a product fault.
We strongly recommend backing up any data before returning a device for repair or replacement. We cannot be held responsible for data lost during a repair process.
